The technology age is already present and it has become very common in different fields and one of those is the education field, which have implemented some software in the learning process of a second language.
Therefore, the technological tools that have been applied are used to develop in students a specific skill in order to acquire or improve a language. Moreover, as a listening strategy in a second language class the use of podcast have become frequently. Podcast are a digital audio or video file made available on the internet.
Furthermore, a podcast can be integrating in a listening lesson for many purposes as, to check pronunciation from a native speaker recorded, to develop listening skill and to practice writing as well, helping students to have a sense of native speakers’ accent. Also, podcast innovates the teaching process, since text books can be substituted, by some podcast that contain transcriptions for students to read while listening to an audio record. For that reason, CALL can be attractive for students since they are more in contact with the technology and teachers should take this advantage to integrate the use of podcast and other software during the lessons and to encourage students to explore and to be part of the new technological tools in order to improve their second language learning.

  1. Good night Vanesa, I read your blog and I'm really agree with your post, I think that the implementation of podcast in the educational field has came a good tool for the learning process in learners. Before, the learning process in listening classes were kind of bored for students who just heard a song or a short old conversation and they had to answer the excercises or just repeated what they read. However, nowadays technology has been applied in the teaching field, this to help students and teachers to have more opportunity to teach and learn. For example, implementing podcast in listening classes help students as you said in your post to have a sense of native speakers accent, to Improve their English, to develop their listening skills etc. so for that I think that using this new tools in the teaching field will help students in acquire the English easily.

  2. Greetings
I just have finished reading your log and I must say I found out interesting your point of view about using podcast in order to imitate or acquire native speakers’ pronunciation because when you are learning a new language you wish you could speak as they do, regardless if you want to have the Standard, British or Australian accent. Besides, I agree with the idea about using these files in order to stop using books because to be honest students get bored while filling the blank, but when they listen to an audio they get interested perhaps not at the first time, but later they do.
